Amateur rocketry is not new. What we do today is a continuation of pioneering work done by private individuals that began early in the twentieth century. Below are three examples of amateur-built rockets from that time. Like now, minimally-financed individuals and small teams conceived, designed, built and tested their own experimental rockets.

Although I don't compare my work to that of these men, I believe amateur rocket builders can still make contributions in the twenty-first century just as these men did in the twentieth.
